The superbly restored building, originally a Dominican Friary, contains a two-hundred-and-thirty seat theatre, an eighty seat Cabaret Revue Bar, a Foyer Gallery which houses regular visual arts exhibitions, and art studio and a number of multi-purpose rooms. All the facilities are available to hire for business, charitable, cultural or social purposes. For further information contact Andrea Thomas on (01205) 363075.
While relaxing in our Foyer Gallery, you can enjoy a range of snack foods and hot or cold drinks. The Gallery and Box OFfice Shop are open between 10.15am and 8pm, Monday to Saturday. On evening when there is no film or show, the Box Office will close at 5pm. Please note that children aged twelve years or under must be accompanied by an adult at all times in the auditorium.
Blackfriars' upstairs bar is open Monday to Saturday between 8.30pm and 11pm, providing a relaxed atmosphere in which to meet friends close to the heart of Boston.
Can you help us?
Blackfriars' close ties to the community it serves are reflected in the invaluable work regularly done by local volunteers. More than a hundred local people help steward performances, run the bars, distribute publicity and do backstage work. If you would like to know more about volunteering to work at Blackfriars, please contact Maggie Lighten at the Box Office on (01205) 363108.
Theatre Equipment Hire
Blackfriars can supply equipment needed by organisers of events in the region. Resources available include stage lighting, sound equipment, mobile stage sections and a dance floor. For more details, please contact Andy Gath on (01205) 363075.
